ℹ️ Precautions & Safety Notes

• Liver and muscle safety monitoring: Baseline and periodic liver function tests (LFTs) and creatine kinase (CK/CPK) are advised. Therapy should be discontinued if significantly elevated liver enzymes or muscle symptoms occur. 

• Risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis: Potential increased risk when combined with cyclosporine, niacin, fibrates, erythromycin, or azole antifungals. Patients should report unexplained muscle weakness or pain. 

• Drug interactions to monitor: Use caution when co-administered with warfarin, digoxin, oral contraceptives, colestipol, macrolides, or antacids. Monitor accordingly. 

• Contraindications: Not recommended in patients with active liver disease, unexplained persistent transaminase elevations, previous statin intolerance, pregnancy, or lactation. 

• Use in pregnancy and breast-feeding: Contraindicated due to potential fetal risk. Women of childbearing potential should use contraception during therapy. 

• Caution in special populations: No dose adjustment required for mild renal impairment or elderly, but care should be taken in hepatic impairment and heavy alcohol users.
