Product Benefits
| Core Benefit | Mechanism |
| Effective Insulin Stimulation | Directly stimulates the pancreas to increase the endogenous release of insulin, utilizing the body's existing capacity to combat high blood sugar. |
| Established Efficacy | Gliclazide is a well-established and widely trusted agent within the Sulfonylurea class for effectively lowering $\text{A1C}$ levels and improving blood sugar parameters. |
| Flexible Dosing | As an immediate-release tablet, the dose can be titrated and split (e.g., twice daily) to optimize insulin release timing in relation to meals. |
| Potential Haemovascular Benefits | Gliclazide is noted for having some extra-pancreatic and haemovascular properties that may offer benefits to the microcirculation. |
⚠️ Important Safety Note: Sulfonylurea Class
Prescription Required: This medication must be taken strictly as prescribed.
Risk of Hypoglycemia: Gliclazide can cause hypoglycemia (dangerously low blood sugar). Symptoms include sweating, dizziness, confusion, and tremors. Always carry a source of fast-acting sugar (glucose tablets, juice, candy). The risk is increased by skipping meals, excessive exercise, or alcohol consumption.
Administration: The tablet should be taken with meals (usually breakfast and dinner) to coincide with the post-meal rise in blood sugar and reduce the risk of stomach upset. DO NOT skip meals after taking this medication.
Kidney/Liver Disease: Use with caution in patients with severe kidney or liver disease, as this increases the risk of hypoglycemia.
