⚠️ Important Usage Note: Asthma Prophylaxis
Not for Acute Attacks: Ketotifen is NOT a rescue inhaler and will not stop an established asthma attack. A separate short-acting bronchodilator must be used for acute symptoms.
Delayed Effect: The prophylactic benefit of Ketotifen may take several weeks (at least two weeks) to become fully established. Previous treatments (especially corticosteroids) should be continued for a minimum period after starting Ketotifen to avoid asthma exacerbation.
Drowsiness: Drowsiness is a common side effect at the beginning of treatment. Patients should be warned about driving or operating heavy machinery until they know how the medication affects them.
