• Neuropathic Pain: Effective against conditions like postherpetic neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy, reducing burning or shooting nerve pain (Day 1: 300 mg once, Day 2: twice, then Day 3: thrice; up to 1,800 mg daily)

• Adjunctive Epilepsy Treatment: For partial-onset seizures (with or without secondary generalization), in adults and children aged ≥3 years, in combination with other antiepileptics 

• Also used off-label for fibromyalgia, restless legs syndrome, hot flashes, headache syndromes, and behavioral disturbances in conditions like PTSD and MS 

📋 Dosage & Administration

• Adults: Start with 300 mg once daily on Day 1, 300 mg twice on Day 2, then 300 mg three times on Day 3; titrate upward as needed (range: 900–1,800 mg/day in three divided doses; in epilepsy up to 2,400 mg/day as tolerated) 

• Children (3–12 years): 10–15 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses, titrated up to 25–35 mg/kg/day as needed 

• Renal Impairment: Dose adjustment required in renal dysfunction; reduce per creatinine clearance guidelines 

• Administration: Can be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water 

⚠️ Side Effects & Precautions

• Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, somnolence, ataxia, peripheral edema, weight gain, dry mouth (>5–10%) 

• Uncommon/Rare: Mood changes, depression, memory impairment, blurred vision, headache, leukopenia, rash; rare cases of hepatic failure or aplastic anemia reported

• Warnings: May increase suicidal thoughts in vulnerable patients (monitor mental health closely); avoid abrupt discontinuation—taper off gradually

🚫 Contraindications & Interactions

• Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to gabapentin
