Product Benefits
| Core Benefit | Mechanism |
| Effective Pain and Inflammation Control | Nepafenac is metabolized to the active NSAID Amfenac, which blocks the action of Cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, stopping the production of inflammatory prostaglandins in the eye. |
| Optimal Corneal Penetration | Nepafenac is a prodrug specifically designed to penetrate the cornea efficiently to reach therapeutic concentrations in the posterior segment structures of the eye. |
| Twice-Daily or Once-Daily Dosing | The $0.3\%$ "TS" strength often allows for a once-daily dosing schedule, which significantly improves patient adherence during the complex post-operative period compared to multi-dose NSAIDs. |
| Reduces Risk of CME | It is commonly used to inhibit surgery-induced miosis and is believed to play a role in the prevention of post-operative Cystoid Macular Edema (CME), a serious complication of cataract surgery. |
⚠️ Important Safety Note: Ophthalmic NSAID
Prescription Use Only: This is a prescription drug. Use strictly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist (often starting one day before surgery and continuing for two weeks after).
Delayed Healing: Topical NSAIDs, including Nepafenac, may slow or delay corneal healing. Use with caution if you have underlying corneal epithelial defects, dry eye, or are concomitantly using topical corticosteroids.
Corneal Damage Risk: Patients with complicated ocular surgeries, diabetes, or rheumatoid arthritis are at an increased risk of severe corneal adverse events.
Administration: As a suspension, the bottle MUST be shaken well before each use. Remove contact lenses before instilling the drops.
